Below them, the courtyard hummed with the low vibration of a ward being strained, the kind of sound Flora described as 'the world holding its breath.' Tecna's instruments were already screaming data no one had a model for. Aisha's water-sense told her the oceans of Magix were pulling inward, as if something were drinking them. Musa heard a single, sustained note in the wind that no instrument could produce.
