Below, the fountain's water caught the last amber light of Magix's twin suns and threw it in fractured rainbows across the stone. Somewhere in the east wing, she could hear Tecna muttering to herself, calibrating some contraption that definitely should not have been allowed in a classroom. To the west, the distant laughter of Stella and Flora drifted up like music. Bloom pressed her palm flat against the warm railing. The stone hummed back, faintly, as if the school itself were breathing. She thought of the first day—how she'd stood in the great hall with her arms crossed, terrified, certain she didn't belong. Now the hall felt like an extension of her own chest. She exhaled, watched the twin suns dip below the treeline, and smiled. Tomorrow there would be another exam, another rival, another impossible problem. But tonight, Alfea was quiet, and for one small hour, that was enough.
